About BMI
The Body Mass Index (BMI) is a widely used measurement to assess a person’s body weight relative to their height. It is calculated by dividing the weight in kilograms by the square of the height in meters.
BMI Categories:
- Underweight: BMI less than 18.5
- Normal weight: BMI 18.5–24.9
- Overweight: BMI 25–29.9
- Obesity: BMI 30 or greater
BMI Prime expresses your BMI as a ratio to the upper limit of the healthy BMI range (25). It helps visualize how close you are to the healthy boundary:
- BMI Prime < 1.0: → Below or within healthy weight
- BMI Prime = 1.0: → Exactly at the upper healthy limit
- BMI Prime > 1.0: → Overweight or obese range
Note: BMI is a useful screening tool but does not directly measure body fat. Consider other factors like age, gender, muscle mass, and overall health.
